I had to put this article on here.   What a great subject !  I get asked dozens of times every month by ambitous network marketers (even in my own organization) from all over the world, “How can I motivate others to want to become more successful?”

Now as great as it might sound to be able to motivate someone else, the answer is, you cannot successfully motivate others.

You may inspire them, but motivation for them must come from within.

Anything less than internal motivation is like spray paint on rust. Eventually, when the motivation from an event or pep talk wears off, its a person’s committment that is left over.

You cannot motivate others to want to succeed any more than you can push a rope uphill.

Truth is, a person must first want it for themselves before they will ever become successful.

If you want it more for someone else than they want it for themself, this can become very unhealthy. (for both parties)

The key then to having motivated people on your team, is to be motivated yourself.

Being self motivated is the only surefire way to reach long term success.

Being self motivated means that you don’t require someone else to remind you of the opportunity you have in front of you.

Being self motivated means that you wake up every morning raring and ready to take on the day, create new relationships, market your business and show people how to get started.

Being self motivated means that you attend local events, regionals, conventions or trainings without having to be reminded that these events are taking place.

Being self motivated means that you invest in your education by reading good books, listening to audios and modeling successful people.

Being self motivated means that you take all out massive action, regardless of who believes in you, supports you or joins you.

Being self motivated means that you are inspired by your future and what is possible.

Being self motivated means being self determined.

Being self motivated requires that you are self functional.

This means that you must learn how to do business, learn the system and then go out and produce.

“It’s the training”

Experts say that the information space, commonly known as the “world wide web,” grows by over a million pages everyday as more and more people utilize the Internet for information, education, entertainment, business and other personal reasons. It doesn’t take a business-oriented individual to realize that this phenomenon can bring about sky-high financial gains.

The Internet’s fast-growing popularity in the recent years is surely an opportunity for business that any entrepreneur would not want to miss.

One of the best ways to do this – at no cost at all – is by submitting articles, with your website’s link at the resource box, to e-zines and free article sites. You will not only gain exposure, you will also have the opportunity to advertise for free, just include a link back to your site. The more sites you submit your articles to, the better your link popularity is. Make your articles original, relevant and useful so that more websites will pick it up and post it.

Many new marketers fail to start because they are not sure how to promote a new website.

So today I’m going to show you step by step what I normally do when I start a new website.  Before listing down the step by step instructions, I need to clarify that what I’m doing is to promote 15 to 40 pages Adsense website or product review website. It can be a static site or a blog.

“Why is it important to clarify on this?” You may ask.  This is because you can start many kinds of websites. Adsense or product review website is just one easy way to make ’small’ money online, but when you have 100s of these little sites, it’s more than enough to quit your job!

Other forms of website you can start include a squeeze page to build list, a mega service site like LeadsLeap, your own product site such as your own Clickbank product etc. The strategies required for these kinds of website is different from promoting Adsense or product review website.

For one, you can’t do any form of joint venture for Adsense or product review sites. You can do advertising, provided you know what you are doing. But search engine optimization is a surefire free traffic source that you can rely on and once you get such traffic, it’s going to serve you for years!

So in this article, when I say promoting a new website, I’m really talking about promoting it to get search engine traffic.

That’s a great question……..

It’s becoming harder and harder to advertise as a distributor in a networking business and that trend will only continue to grow in the coming years. 

Companies find themselves between a rock and a hard place.  On one hand, they understand the importance of advertising, and want you to do as much as possible.

Believe me…

There’s nothing they’d like to see more than a market flooded with distributor placed ads promoting their products and opportunity. On the other hand, attorney’s who are more than aware of the FTC sharks that are constantly circling handcuffs them and are just waiting for someone to screw up so they can dive in for the feast.

As the legal risks continue to rise, the more strict parent companies must get with their advertising policies.

This is an inevitable outcome. Think about it… 95% of distributors in a network marketing company have no real experience as a business owner or professional advertiser.

They have no idea what’s within the law and what’s not.

Income Disclaimer? Terms Of Use? Privacy Policies? What are those?

So you take an eager group of people with ZERO education and little sense of personal liability, and you let them loose onto the biggest communications platform in the history of mankind… The Internet.

People end up placing stupid ads, and making insane claims, all in the name of their beloved parent company.

The Gov shows up a few weeks later, knocks on their door, and says, “clean up your act or we’ll shut you down”. And just like that, the ability for distributors to use advertisements with any information about the parent company at all is taken away.

You can’t blame corporate. They’re just doing what they must in order to stay in business. This will only get worse and it’s a shame.

Personally, I can’t stand government intervention into a capitalist market. They walk into a market under the excuse of protecting the “ignorant consumer” from the evil savvy marketers.

“Your testimonials are too persuasive which caused Mary to spend her last $50 on your product and now she can’t pay her cable bill. You need to remove those testimonials and replace them with something stale, boring, and un-compelling”.

Excuse my 3rd grade verbiage here, but that’s retarded.

America is quickly becoming a country where no one takes personal responsibility for anything in their lives.

If there’s a problem, you go crying to the government who will gladly take your side in exchange for a vote, or a hefty donation during election time.

The weak whine the loudest, which is heard by the politicians who just want to keep their job, so policies are changed to cater to the whiners which means that this entire country is slowly turning into one big pile of finger-pointing meat puppets who cry for their bottle until someone else sticks it in their mouth for them. 

Can you tell I’m a little jaded by this trend? So as far as your networking business is concerned, what are you going to do about it?

Well that’s the million-dollar question isn’t it? I have to be honest. There is no right or wrong answer. You will define your own solution depending upon your personal views and opinions.

I found mine two years ago, and though I’m probably biased, I believe it to be the strongest.  Why?

Well in less than two years it allowed me to go from waiting tables to “millionaire” by the age of 29, and it is the only solution that is completely immune to any and all market changes.

It is, in a word… “Timeless”. And it’s very simple really… You don’t just build a networking opportunity because there’s no real value or equity there.

I hope you realize that.

When you build a business opportunity, you’re not building a real business at all because you don’t own any part of it.

You don’t own the product. You don’t own the company, and you don’t own your downline.

You are an independent distributor that can be let go at the owner’s discretion.  Building a business opportunity is fine, but it shouldn’t “BE” your business. It should only be a part of your business.It needs to be focused and centered around you and your name…. 

What I like to call, “You Inc”, because the equity you build in your name, your reputation, and your relationships is priceless because it can never be taken away from you.

When you build a following of people, and a business around “you” instead of your company, your income will never be at the mercy of other distributors, market changes, competition, or company owners again.

That’s the key to dealing with the growing limitations when it comes to advertising your company. You don’t advertise IT… You advertise YOU.

Sponsoring distributors becomes effortless, building a downline can be done in days, and making $10,000, $20,000, or even $100,000 in a single day is as simple as writing an email.

That’s how you build a real business in the networking industry today.

Whenever we are in a social situation the question “what do you do?” is bound to come up. It’s almost as popular as “how are you?”

I’m sure you too have been the victim of a long drawn out sales pitch, when the question “what do you do?” is asked of someone in direct sales. I’ve NEVER met anyone who wants to listen to a ten minute sales presentation because an overeager sales person believes they now have a lead.

If someone works retail they say “oh I work at _____”. That’s it, you know what they do in 5 seconds. If someone owns a business such as an air conditioning business, again you’ll know what they do within 5 seconds of asking “what do you do?”

Yet for some reason, those in direct sales seem to not be able to convey what they do in under 30 seconds. I’ve truly met folks who when asked “what do you do?” they respond with a sales pitch that ends with “please join our conference call”. C’mon the “what do you do?” was asked in conversation…this is NOT a lead.

There are just so many things you can say:

1. I sell products on a website.
2. I sell advertising via content rich websites.
3. I sell products for a direct sales company.
4. I represent a direct sales company.
5. I help people learn about _______(fill in one or two words here).

The answer to “what do you do?” should not be a sales pitch but rather a conversation starter. If someone says to me “I work at _________(insert retail store name here) then I can say “oh I’ve never heard of them before” or I can say “oh wow, I shop there all of the time” or I can say “oh what do you do there?”. The one sentence of “I work at _____” began a conversation”.

Given the above five suggestions, one might then say to you “oh what do you sell?” or “wow, how long have you been doing that?” or “I’ve never done that, how did you get started?” Those five above ideas are conversation starters, not full blown sales pitches. You now can see where the conversation leads.

See if you can come up with at least five short answers to “what do you do?” that will begin conversations for you, no matter where you are.

OK..  I’ve been working on the internet marketing products of my own as well as several other respectable products of my partners for over 7 years now.  I’m not exactly looking for credit, my point is you can DO THIS without having to think that much or really know that much.  I was near quiting a few years back even though I was earning a decent amount of money, but in reality, I wasn’t getting that far ahead. I was somewhat working paycheck to paycheck even though I operate my own business and work from home fulltime.  I was considering getting back in the “job world”.. But I obviously reconsidered and started re-evaluating my daily schedule.  What I was doing, when I was doing it, how long it took and how much I benefitted..   I realized that” time” was my most important asset.  By making a few key changes, I was able to increase both my monthly earnings as well as my free time. 

Take for example these ideas from a e-book Ive written:

There are so many simple, yet really sure-fire ways of acquiring wealth, it’s a wonder everybody with even the least bit of ambition isn’t already rich. When you come right down to it, the only things needed for anyone to make bundles of money are the long-range vision and the energy to put a money-making plan into force.

One of the easiest methods of building wealth, and the one most often used by the “smart” people, is to furnish the expertise, equipment or growth capital to a promising beginning business. Basically, you buy in as either a part owner or limited partner; then, as the busines grows and propers with your help, you reap
your share of rewards.

The beautiful part about this whole concept is that you can repeat this procedure over and over again. You can start out with, say marketing and sales leadership for small, garage-type business; then with your holdings and earnings from that business, invest in another, and keep doing this until you own a part of twenty-five to an unlimited number of businesses. Looking at the idea from a dollar return point of view, if you were getting $200 per month from 25 different business, your monthly income would amount to no less than $5,000 and that’s not too bad for a fledgling millionaire.

Look around your own area. With just a little bit of business sense and perception, you’re sure to find hundreds of small businesses that could do better–perhaps even become giants–with your help.

Most small businesses need, and would welcome marketing, promotional, advertising, and sales help. If a quick survey of business turns you on with enthusiasm about the potential profits to be made with just a few changes that you can suggest, then you are on your way.

Basically, you set up an appointment to see and talk with business owners about some ideas and help that could double or triple their profits. When you approach them in that manner, their almost certain to want to see you and hear want you have to say.

In prepartion for your meeting, set your ideas down on paper. Put them together in an impressive marketing or profit potential folio. Outline your ideas, the costs involved and the ultimate profit to be gained.

Then, when you arrive for the meeting, be sure to look and act the part of a successful business person. A few pleasantries to break the ice, and begin with your presentation.

Through your proposal, you must instill confidence that you can do all you claim for him. Guide him / her through the presentation to the ultimate profits—- all for a 10 or 20 percent limited partnership in the business, which really won’t cost him anything. Of course, if he / she is reluctant to give up any part of his ownership, you come back with the idea of being hired as a consultant.

Almost all small businesses need help of some kind. The owners get bogged down in a myraid of every day problems and things to do. They find there just are not enough hours in the day to handle everything that should be taken care of, and end up neglecting or putting off some of the things they should be doing to keep the business prosperous. As a result, the long struggle for business survival begins, with more than 60% of them selling out at a loss or just closing up shop.

The other way to ” cut yourself in” on a piece of someone else’s business is to supply needed money. If you can come up with 10 or 15 thousand dollars, you can easily “buy into” some small businesses. Be sure to look the business (and its market potential) over; but once you spot one that can really be a winner with just a little bit of operating cash or money for expansion, then start figuring!

You can reach a never ending supply of such businesses to choose from, simply by running a small advertisement in your daily newspaper in the Classified section under the heading of Business Opportunities Wanted. Such an ad might read:

SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS EXECUTIVE LOOKING FOR NEW
BUSINESS VENTURES. WILL CONSIDER BUY OUT OR
PARTNERSHIP. PO BOX 123, CITY

By the same token, make it a habit to look through the Business Opportunities Available on a regular basis. Mark a few each day and follow up. Check them out, And see what kind of a deal is being offered. Remember, proper management and planning are basically the ingredients to success in business; and most small businesses just do not have these ingredients in the proportions needed to attain their greatest profit potential.

Other people have done it, and more are starting up every day. There’s no reason why you can’t do it. In most cases little or no cash is needed. But with a little bit of action on your part, you could quickly become a multi-business owner, and very wealthy as well.
